The Accomodaters
Who are The Accommodaters?
Eric Hastings: Drums
Forrest Giberson: Upright & Electric Bass
Mark Fung: Percussion
Michael Stegner: Pianos & Organ
The Accommodaters all met in Miami in the mid 90s and ended up in Seattle in the new millenium. Eric, Forrest, and Michael
formed The Jongleurs while down in Florida (Mark sat in on percussion on many live dates and a couple albums).
After they toured the country for a few years and flipped their van, Eric went on to play with ska-rockers The Kind,
singer-songwriter Tania Alexandra, and the electronica/jazz group Justice on a Budget. Forrest hit it with
Spirit Tuck, the Stone Crazy Blues Band, and countless other jazz and rock groups in Seattle. Michael also jammed
with Spirit Tuck, is a member of Michael Shrieve's Tangletown and played jazz, electronic, rock, and classical with everyone
from Mike Doughty to Reggie Watts to KJ Sawka. Mark is a freak. He played with such diverse acts as Grammy Award winning Bacilos, Jose Carreras, the Boshoi Ballet, and Juan Gabriel; dodged many an opportunity to participate in hippie drum circles, and even
played drums, percussion, and keyboards in the Clyde Beatty Cole Brothers Circus. No lie.
What do The Accommodaters play?
The Accommodaters mix the saucey good times of classic New Orleans R&B and funk, add a dash of the blues, a sprinkle of jazz, a pinch of some latin clave, and garnish it with
the occasional video game theme to create a sweet-tasting musical gumbo (Nice, classic band bio line).
Basically if you dig the sound and vibe of folks like Professor Longhair, Dr. John, Sex Mob, The Meters, and Los Hombres Calientes, then you'll dig The Accommodaters.
Why did Eric, Michael, Mark, and Forrest form The Accommodaters?
They always enjoyed playing together and once they were all living in the same city again the members decided it was time to get back to the original reason they picked up instruments in the first place: to have fun! No more band dramas about getting signed, playing the right club, going on tour, who the group leader is, what our image should be, what clothes we should wear, etc.
Just get together, play some great music, have a blast doing it, and make sure the audience is having just as good of a time, too.
Where and when do The Accommodaters play?
Pretty much anywhere and anytime. We've played hipster clubs and dive bars, corporate events to house parties. Wherever people want to have a good time!
Why should I book The Accommodaters?
Short answer: Because we rock! Slightly longer answer: Because we play good music that people enjoy. When audiences listen to us they like to laugh, move their feet, and drink alcohol.
How do I book The Accommodaters?
Listen to some of the short mp3 samples over there on the left of this page. If you dig those and also enjoy classic New Orleans anthems like "Big Chief", "Cissy Strut", "Tipitinas", and "Basin Street Blues" then
we'd probably be a good band to have at your venue, festival, party, event, BBQ, etc. Then just give us a ring or email us and we'll set something up.
Who are the horn players on some of those mp3 demos?
Matt Glassmeyer: Alto Saxophone
Josh Sclar: Tenor Saxophone
Randy Kapralick: Trombone
The Accommodaters like having their talented friends play with them whenever possible.
